This video CPD series of 8 units has been developed in partnership with The National Literacy Trust to help you develop a cumulative, rich vocabulary curriculum throughout your school. During this course, Ruth Baker-Leask will explore the research that underpins what we know about words and how they work, as well as the essential word knowledge that children need and practical strategies that you can embed into your teaching.

Revisit phase 2 phonemes using the Christmas themed images. Pupils can spot items in the images with the initial sounds that they have been taught. The resources also provide opportunities for discussion, talking about what can be seen in the pictures and what children are excited about at Christmas. The activities could be used as part of continuous provision in your setting or be used as an adult focused activity to revisit or teach phase 2 phonemes from Letters and Sounds.
