Undoubtedly a legend in the world of children’s literature, Dame Jacqueline Wilson’s latest book is a reimagining of E. Nesbitt’s classic novel, The Railway Children, with the setting moved to modern times.

This resource pack supports children to explore using characters that they are familiar with from their favourite stories and placing them in new surroundings. They will discuss how their characters might react to the new places that they visit using role play, before writing their own stories based on their ideas. It includes teacher notes, a PowerPoint, planning sheets and beautifully designed elements for a working wall, and has been exclusively created to be used with episode 20 of the Author In Your Classroom podcast – a virtual ‘author visit’ you can share with children whenever you like, absolutely free!

The resource pack includes:

  • PowerPoint
  • Extract from The Primrose Railway Children, by Jacqueline Wilson
  • Images and author quotes for a working wall display
  • Planning sheets 1, 2, 3 and 4
  • Teacher notes
