This grammar Bingo game is a fun way to support pupils in Y5 in their understanding of the prefixes dis-, de-, mis-, over- and re-. Pupils will identify words that these prefixes could be added to whilst playing the game.
The game can be played as a class or in small groups and is perfect for adult led interventions to revisit key knowledge and skills.

What is a prefix?
A prefix is a group of letters that are added to the beginning of a word to create a new word and alter its meaning.
Examples of words with prefixes
- dis-: dishonest, dislike, disappear
- de-: depart, defrost, decode
- mis-: misunderstand, miscalculate, misbehave
- over-: overnight, overpay, overdue
- re-: reoffend, recapture, recycle
