Do your pupils understand the importance of recycling?
Develop pupils’ knowledge of why recycling materials is important using the activities provided in this pack. These could be used as part of Recycling Week in September to educate and encourage more people to recycle in the UK.
Pupils will learn the meaning of many symbols found on packaging linked to recycling, helping them to understand what can (and cannot) be recycled and where. They will investigate why it is important to recycle and the effect that not recycling materials will have on the planet. Using this information, pupils will then write an information leaflet, informing the reader of the importance of recycling.
This Lower Key Stage 2 resources pack includes:
- Teaching slides (PowerPoint)
- Recycling symbols sorting cards
- Writing prompt
- Planning sheet
- Teacher’s notes providing guidance on how to use the resource with additional activities also suggested
