Teach children about staying safe near water, and boost their creative writing skills, with this great activities pack from the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution).
With the help of specially recorded soundscapes, and an interactive set of slides to start them thinking, they are encouraged to write a short story about falling into the water in one of a choice of four settings, using all their senses to ‘show, not tell’.
The RNLI has a great education offer for schools, including more downloadable resources like this, videos, and educational visit opportunities*, as well as creative fundraising ideas. Find out more by visiting the website, here
A pack for children in KS1 (Years 1 and 2), also produced with the RNLI, and focusing on descriptive writing, is available here
*Please note that the RNLI team is currently unable to process requests for educational visits due to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
