Lent is part of the Christian calendar and takes place each spring. It begins the day after Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) and continues until Easter.
This resource pack introduces Lent and the Christian beliefs that are remembered during this time.
The text within the resource pack explains to pupils what happens during Lent and explains the Christian story of Jesus fasting in the desert which Christians remember at this time.
The resource could be used in whole class, group guided reading sessions or as an independent reading activity and could be used as part of an RE lesson on Christianity.

When does Lent take place?
Lent takes place annually each spring. The date changes as Lent takes place during the six weeks before Easter and lasts for 40 days, excluding Sundays.
In 2023, Lent will take place between 22nd February and 8th April.
