At the end of Key Stage 2, children in Year 6 complete the English grammar, punctuation and spelling test (GPS). Are your pupils ready?
This Year 6 SPaG Questions pack will support the practise of test style questions that pupils will face in paper 1 of the end of Key Stage 2 English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling test.
These resources can be used alongside our Year 6 Revision Blaster worksheets to support revision in your classroom, in this case, of capital letters and full stops.
All our SPAG Questions and Revision Blaster resource packs focus on the content domains from the Key Stage 2 grammar, punctuation and spelling test framework (National Curriculum tests from 2016).
Content domains covered in this resource:
- G3.1 sentences and clauses
- G5.1 capital letters
- G5.2 full stops
Why do we use capital letters and full stops?
Capital letters and full stops are used to mark the beginning and end of a sentence. A sentence is a group of words that is complete and makes sense. A sentence can be a main clause on its own (often called a simple sentence) or two or more clauses can be combined to make multiclause sentences. A capital letter is used to mark the beginning of a sentence and a full stop is used at the end to show that it is complete. Capital letters are also used for proper nouns including the days of the week and months of the year, and for the personal pronoun ‘I’.
